Mediation Mela

Sree Narayana Law College,Poothotta had become the venue for a Mediaton Mela on the 10th of September 2015.The Mela was organised in the college by the Mediation Centre, High Court of Kerala, Ernakulam in coalation wth Udayemperoor Panchayat and Thanal Chartable society. The Staff and the students of the college rendered their service as the volunteers with the support of Principal, Prof. K V Mohanan and the SNDP Management to make this venture a great success. The Mela had considered about 43 cases. Nine mediators from the Mediation Centre High Court of Kerala Ernakulam actively participated in the Mela by helping the parties settle their disputes. An inaugural session preceded the Mela. The Mela was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Sri. S. Jagadeesh, Chairman KELSA and the Principal District and Sessions Judge Ernakulam. Hon’ble Justice Sri. Sathyan, District Judge and Director Mediation Centre, High Court of Kerala, Ernakulam presided over the function. The Presidential address was rendered by Ms. Ajitha Saleem, President, Udayemperoor Panchayat. While the welcome address was rendered by Sri. V. G. Raveendran, Vice President, Udayemperoor Panchayat, Advocate Sri. K.V.Prakasan , Mediator, Kerala High Court, Ernakulam took the pleasure in conveying vote of thanks. Sri. E. Maniyappan, Manager, SNDP, Poothotta, Sri. Jayachandran, Secretary, SNDP, Poothotta, MS. Sindhu Soman, Vice Principal, Sree Narayana Law College Poothotta and Sri. K.K. Rajesh, President, Thanal Charitable Society rendered the felicitation speech.

Visit to avedana Bhavan and children’s home

The NSS unit celebrated the independence day with the inmates of Avedana Bhavan Kottayam. Child iates of the children's home were taught glass painting , jewellery making as well as paintings. Entertaient programmes were also conducted. The unit also spent time with the patients in palliative care unit.

LEGAL AWARENESS CLASSES IN COSULTATION WITH KELSA AND Kerala Mediation and Conciliation Centre

Taking into consideration the social problems prevailing in the society, the Legal Aid Clinic had organized a Legal awareness programme for the Public. With the help of Kerala Legal Services Authority and Mediation centre, High court of Kerala, Legal Awareness classes were organised. Shri K Sathyan, District Judge and Director, Mediation centre, High Court of Kerala handled a session concerning importance of Mediation. A Docu- Fiction on Mediation was screened for the audience in between the sessions. An idea regarding the functioning of Kerala Legal Services Authority was given by Shri Jayachandran, Member Secretary and District Judge. Adv. Suresh, who is a mediator in the mediation centre, conducted classes on the topics like Domestic Violence, Child Sex Abuse and Maintenance of senior citizens for the public. There was active participation from public.

Tie-up with NGOs

Legal Aid Clinic has tie-up with NGOs such as Rajagiri out Reach, jananeethi, DLSA, KELSA etc. We conducted many legal surveys, feed backs etc... In our near panchayaths, Anganwadis and conducted various seminars along with legal awareness classes.

Legal Awareness

The Legal Aid clinic in our college has been deeply involved in public policy oriented research and has been increasingly taking part in helping and co-coordinating projects in association with other organizations like NHRC, KELSA etc. A two day workshop was held on 12th and 13th of July 2014 by the Kerla High Court jointly with NHRC. The students our institution participated the sessions and declared to start Anti- Human Trafficking (AHT) Clubs in our College.

Legal Aid

Legal Aid A dedicated Legal Aid Clinic has been in operation at the SNLC campus since its inception. The clinic has since be used to provide free legal advice and counseling for people from various sections of society, as well as facilitating mediation from time to time. Additionally, we have a pro-bono panel consisting of many eminent lawyers including many judges from the High Court who volunteer and handle these cases that come the clinic.

LEGAL AID CLINIC

The Legal Aid Clinic started in Sree Narayana Law College, Poothotta as per the Bar Council’s regulatory and representative mandate under Section 7 for legal profession and legal education in India. Legal Aid Clinic works to bridge the gap between the justice delivery system and underprivileged sections of sections of society by organizing legal literacy camps, social action mobilization camps, conducting socio- legal surveys on issues relating to the urban poor and the unrepresented, public- interest litigation / social action litigation, and interacting with social welfare organizations. Asst. Professor Merin Thaliath is in charge of Legal Aid Clinic.

SNLC- Legal Aid Clinic Inaugurated

Legal aid clinic of sree narayana law college has been offically inaugrated by Respected judge Dr.Kauser Edappagath (special judge,NIA&CBI-II)...started functioning in all 4th Wednesdays Time:2:30 p.m and 4.00 p.m.
